Bianca Rheys, Ryan Bertrand and Cary Vaughn-Blair's first case together was long before they were ever taking cases together. It also wasn't exactly a case, and it occurred far before Bianca was even old enough to be working with Vaughn intentionally – she was twenty, and the event occurred only two days after the two of them had even met.
To add some linear context, Bianca had finished at Oxford two days ago, Vaughn was 26 and had just made Inspector Second Grade. Ryan Bertrand, at 27, hadn't even gotten to that point yet – he was about a week away from even being considered for Inspector.
And yet within two weeks they'd already solved a murder together, Bianca and Vaughn were engaged, and Bertrand was promoted and had gained one or two more best friends for life.
Wow, you might say, these people work fast.
And you'd be right.
But it all began very, very slowly.
